Hagitude

Reimagining the Second Half of Life

stories are spells; they change things

A book and a membership program

Hagitude: Reclaiming the Second Half of Life is a book and a year-long membership program, offered by psychologist and mythologist Dr Sharon Blackie – author of the bestselling If Women Rose Rooted.

Our story begins with the bone-deep metamorphosis of menopause. As we slowly begin to burn away old identities and outdated structures, we enter a state of conscious incubation in which a new life can be dreamed into being.

dreaming ourselves into being

A new story

Menopause is a time between stories, when the old story fades and a new story is waiting to emerge: the ultimate revelation of who we truly are and always were meant to be. It’s a liminal time, when we hover on the brink of the profound transformation which ultimately leads to elderhood, and contemplate the work of gaining new perspectives on our life, of challenging and evolving our belief systems, of exploring our calling, of uncovering meaning, and ultimately finding healing for a lifetime’s accumulation of wounds. Elderhood can be a time of flourishing, and there’s a sense of rightness and beauty in insisting on flowering just when the world expects you to become quiet and diminish.

Join me on that great adventure.

‘It is the grandmothers in our oldest European myths and stories who define and shape the ongoing story of the world.’

it’s stories that will save us, in the end

Resources

This website, along with the book and membership program, is designed to help you navigate your journey through menopause and elderhood. Beginning with a library of myths, folk and fairy tales which illuminate the archetypal qualities of older women in our native European traditions; with useful articles, and with a series of podcasts with women who are already in the midst of those journeys, we’ll build up a collection of resources to inspire you to find continued growth, meaning and authenticity in the second half of your life.
